DPR Says Jakarta Has Lost DKI Status Since February 15
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR, Supratman Andi Agtas, said that Jakarta has no longer had the status of a Special Capital City (DKI) since February 15.
This was conveyed by Supratman in response to the Draft Law on the Special Region of Jakarta (RUU DKJ).
Supratman initially explained that Baleg would discuss the DKJ Bill after the government submitted the problem inventory list (DIM) to the DPR. Currently, he said, the DPR Baleg is in a waiting position.
"The name of the discussion of the bill must be agreed between the DPR and the government. We are waiting first, we have not seen the DIM of the government because it was only today that the assignment was. Only after this we are waiting for DIM. In the near future we will hold a working meeting with the government," said Supratman, Tuesday, March 5.
According to Supratman, the discussion of the DKJ Bill must be rushed in the next one or two days because the urgency concerns Jakarta's status as DKI. After the ratification of the IKN Bill and the new capital project in East Kalimantan.
"The problem is this, the DKI Bill has lost its status since February 15 yesterday. That's the implication of the IKN law. Now it ends February 15. Now DKI has no status. That's what makes us have to accelerate," explained Supratman.
The Gerindra legislator for the Central Sulawesi electoral district explained that in this draft draft law, DKI's special status is still maintained but not in the capacity as the nation's capital, but there are other statuses.
"Of course there must be other specificities. Therefore, we will discuss it again with the government. I have communicated with the Minister of Home Affairs before this. Well, maybe if not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, we will discuss it with the government," he explained.
The Gerindra politician is not worried that the issue of the governor of Jakarta will be directly appointed by the president. Because, he said, there was still an agreement between the DPR and the government to determine the fate of Jakarta.
"If the government does not agree, we will see that later the DPR will maintain its arguments related to it. We do not yet know the progress with other factions. Is the government's attitude the same as that conveyed by the Minister of Home Affairs or there has been a change, we don't know," he said.

"Therefore, we will return the RDPU. Calling all those who are cons and supportive. Because it's called a special area. If we can finish it, we can do a working meeting the day after tomorrow, for example, within a week to 10 working days must be completed. Therefore, DKI has lost its status," concluded Supratman.
