Allegedly Involved In Bribery Of Candidates, 2 Members Of South Sumatra's OKU Bawaslu Claim To Get Threats Asking For Police Protection

As many as two members of Bawaslu Ogan Komering Ulu in South Sumatra (Sumsel) with the initials F and AK are suspected of being involved in the bribery of the local legislative candidate in the 2024 election.

Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Police Chief Commissioner Adjunct Senior Commissioner Imam Zamroni said that until now his party had not received an official report from the alleged victim.

However, the two members of the OKU Bawaslu suspected came to the OKU Police to ask for protection because they received threats from several people in connection with the case.

"So, we provide security space for the two OKU Bawaslu commissioners because they feel there is a threat from several people," said Imam in Baturaja, OKU, Monday, March 4, as reported by Antara.

Imam admitted that the police would investigate this case to ensure the truth and justice in its handling.

"The issue of alleged bribery that is circulating will also be investigated. Whatever the information, it will be our policy in conducting an investigation," he said.

Previously, information circulated on social media that two members of the OKU Bawaslu with the initials F and AK were secured at the local OKU Police Headquarters for allegedly accepting bribes from candidates participating in the 2024 General Election.

Both are suspected of accepting bribes amounting to Rp1.34 billion by promising a legislative candidate to qualify as a member of the DPRD with the lure of obtaining 4,000 votes in the East Baturaja 1 electoral district.

Until this news was revealed, the Chairman of the OKU Bawaslu Yudi Risandi could not be confirmed about the news of the alleged bribery case that ensnared his members.
