Subordinate Obstacle, Former Head Of Maluku Empowerment Empowerment Office Sentenced To 1 Year And 4 Months In Prison
AMBON - Ambon District Court judges sentenced former Head of the Maluku Province Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (P3A) David Solaeman Katayane in cases of sexual abuse and harassment of his subordinates.
"Declaring that the defendant is legally and convincingly proven guilty of violating Article 6 letter c of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence in conjunction with Article 64 of the Criminal Code," said Ambon District Court Chief JusticeMartha Maitimu as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 4.
The panel of judges also sentenced the defendant to pay a fine of Rp. 100 million, subsidiary to three months in prison.
The aggravating thing is that the defendant is sentenced to prison and pays a fine because his actions have caused shame to the victim. While the mitigating thing is that the defendant is polite and has never been convicted.
The judge's decision was lighter than the demands of the Ambon Kejari Prosecutor's Office, Senia Pentury, who in the previous trial demanded that the defendant be sentenced to two years in prison.
Based on this decision, both the Public Prosecutor and the defendant through their legal advisor expressed their thoughts.
The act of sexual harassment by the defendant against his subordinates was carried out by calling the victim into his office for work in mid-2023.
