Jokowi Attends The Summit In Australia, Ma'ruf Amin Carrys Out The President's Duties Until March 6
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo appointed Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to carry out the president's duties during Jokowi's state visit to Australia, from Monday to March 6, 2024.
The assignment is as stated in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2024 concerning the Assignment of the Vice President to Carry out the duties of the President.
Based on a copy of the presidential decree quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 4, on the jdih.setneg.go.id page, Jokowi in the presidential decree decided four things:
First, assign the Vice President to carry out his daily duties by the provisions of the legislation while the President carries out a working visit and/or statehood to Australia from March 4 to 6, 2024 or until the date of arrival back in the country.
Second, if within the assignment period, a new policy needs to be determined immediately, the Vice President as the executor of the president's duties must first consult and ask for the President's approval.
Third, after the President returns to the country, the assignment ends and the Vice President immediately reports the implementation of the task to the President.
Fourth, the President's decision applies on a date set.
Presidential Decree has been appointed by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta, March 1, 2024.
President Joko Widodo left for Melbourne, Australia, Monday morning, to attend the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit (KTT), March 4, 2024, which celebrates 50 years of ASEAN's partnership with the country.
The President said the holding of this summit was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the partnership between ASEAN and Australia. In addition, he will discuss how ASEAN and Australia's comprehensive strategic partnerships can be optimized in the future in order to create a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo Pacific region.
In addition to attending the summit, the President will also hold bilateral meetings with Australian, New Zealand and Cambodian Prime Ministers.
