Commission II Of The House Of Representatives Waits For A Copy Of The Decision On The Threshold Of Parliament From The Constitutional Court
JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court or the Constitutional Court will immediately submit a copy of case lawsuit decision Number 116/PUU-XXI/2023 regarding parliamentary threshold rules to the DPR in the near future, at least 3 days after the decision is pronounced.
Tit for tat, Commission II of the DPR also waited for the Constitutional Court to send a copy of the lawsuit decision requested by the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem) to the leadership of the DPR.
Member of Commission II of the DPR, Guspardi Gaus, confirmed that his party would immediately follow up on the decision deftly and carefully. "After a copy of the decision is submitted to the leadership of the DPR) We will study, explore and examine according to the results of the decision," Guspardi told VOI, Saturday, March 2.
The PAN politician said that until now the DPR is still undergoing a recess period so that some members of Commission II of the DPR are still in their respective electoral districts. For information, the DPR will only start the trial on Tuesday, March 5. "But in essence, after a copy of the decision is received, we will immediately follow up. Because the Constitutional Court's decision is final and binding," said the West Sumatra electoral district legislator.
In following up on the results of the Constitutional Court's decision, Guspardi ensured that Commission II would pay close attention to the five conditions requested by the Constitutional Court in the revision of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (Pemilu). "The percentage of thresholds will be proportionalized and designed in a sustainable manner," he said. It is known that the Constitutional Court in its decision recorded five important conditions that the DPR must consider in revising the Election Law.
