Declines In EV Demand And Installs European Manufacturers Switch To Electrification

JAKARTA - The global market condition of electric vehicles has declined since the last few months the EV price is still more expensive than the ICE engine. This is what makes manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz delay its plan to sell more electric vehicles by the end of the decade.

In line with the luxury manufacturer, Renault also revealed the same thing. The French automotive company insists that it will still offer ICE-engined vehicles together with electric vehicles for the next 10 years.

Our strategy is to have two options in each segment, namely the ICE lineup with complete hybrid technology and electric vehicles, said Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault Brand, quoted from Automotive News, Friday, February 1.

Cambolive also said the approach taken by his party provided a lot of flexibility in adapting to market conditions and not only depending on one technology.

For me, the question is not just fixated on electric vehicles by 2030. We will follow the trend with two very competitive offerings in our product lineup, at both stages, "said Cambolive.

Earlier in 2022, Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, said Renault brands would only sell electric vehicles in Europe by 2030. However, the French man also said the plan could be realized depending on market conditions.

Recently, the brand launched Renault 5 EV with a compact design launched on the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) 2024. The car is said to be an option for environmentally friendly vehicles at affordable prices on the blue continent.

The model is projected to be sold for around 25,000 euros (around Rp. 414 million) with a range of up to 400 km, thanks to a battery option larger than the two available configurations.
