Violating Stay Permits, Bangladeshi Residents In Banda Aceh Arrested By Immigration

The joint team from the Banda Aceh and TNI Immigration Offices arrested a Bangladeshi citizen at home in the city of Banda Aceh allegedly violating a residence permit.

The foreign national from Bangladesh was arrested after being picked up at a house in Gampong Pie, Meuraxa District, Banda Aceh City, Thursday, February 29.

The Bangladeshi citizen has the initials P, aged 41 years. P has lived in the house for the past year with his wife who is also a local resident.

The joint team that picked up Bangladeshi citizens consisted of the Class I Immigration Office team for the Banda Aceh Immigration Checkpoint (TPI), the Dempo Bais TNI Task Force team, Deninteldam Iskandar Muda, and Kodim 0101/KBA.

Furthermore, the joint team took the Bangladeshi citizen to the Class I Immigration office of TPI Banda Aceh in the Atjeh Market area, Banda Aceh City, to undergo further investigation.

Head of the Immigration Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Aceh Province, Ujo Sujoto, said that his party was still gathering information and other information regarding the Bangladeshi citizen.

"Currently, officers are still gathering information and other information. The plan is that Monday (4/3) a press release will be held regarding the Bangladeshi citizen," said Ujo Sujoto, quoted by ANTARA.

Meanwhile, information gathered, the Bangladeshi citizen with the initials P lives in Aceh with his wife, who is also a local resident, since March 2023. Previously, the two met and married in Malaysia.

Apart from allegedly violating the residence permit, P is also suspected of not having immigration documents. P is suspected of illegally entering Indonesia from Malaysia through Tanjung Balai, North Sumatra.
