German Open 2024 Results: Two Indonesian Representatives To The Round Of 16

JAKARTA Two Indonesian mixed doubles, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, qualified for the second round of the 2024 German Open.

Rehan/Lisa are the first representatives of Indonesia to make sure they qualify after defeating the Scottish pair, Adam Hall/Julie Macpherson, two straight games with a score of 22-20 and 21-9 on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, WIB night.

The pair who are the seventh seed will then meet a mixed doubles from Australia, Kenneth Zhe Hooi Choo/Gronya Somerville.

Kenneth/Gronya started their journey in the Super 300 BWF tournament by stopping the Chinese Taipei pair, Chen Cheng Kuan/Hsu Yin-Hui, two straight games 21-18 and 21-15.

Meanwhile, Rinov/Pitha, who became the eighth seed in this tournament, stepped into the second half after an easy win over the host pair, David Eckerlin/Amelie Lehmann, with a score of 21-5 and 21-14.

In the second round, Rinov/Pitha will meet with representatives of Malaysia, Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing. The pair qualified for the second half after defeating the British representative, Gregory Mairs/Jenny Mairs.

Unfortunately, the sweet journey between the two Indonesian representatives could not be followed by Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja. This mixed doubles went straight home in the first half.

Dejan/Gloria, who became Indonesia's mixed doubles hope to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, lost to the rubber games 19-21, 21-17, and 22-23 against fifth seed from the Netherlands, Robin Tabeling/Selena Piek.

At the German German Open 2024, Indonesia only fielded three representatives. With the failure of Dejan/Gloria, Indonesia now only has to hope for the remaining two mixed doubles.
