Alwi Farhan Withdraws From Germany Open 2024
JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) put forward the reasons behind the resignation of the men's singles Alwi Farhan from the 2024 German Open.
Alwi was previously included in the draw for the Super 300 BWF level event. He should have played from the qualifying round of the tournament which took place starting Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
"There are many considerations, yes. Yesterday (February 26, 2024) I just gathered with the coaches, how can the input really be considered," said Head of Development and Achievement, Ricky Soebagdja, at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center.
After withdrawing from the 2024 German Open, Alwi is now being prepared for another tournament. The two tournaments he can participate in are the Swiss Open and the 2024 Spanish Masters.

"So, to decide who participates in the championship, it really has to be. This has a lot to do. If the potential is large, it can still be registered. So, Alwi's opportunity is still long," said Ricky.
Without Alwi, Indonesia is only represented by three mixed doubles. They are Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.
In the first round, Dejan/Gloria will meet the Dutch pair, Robin Tableing/Selena Piek. Then, Rehan/Lisa meet representatives of Scotland, Adam Hall/Julie Machpherson/Lastly, Rinov/Pitha will fight the winner of the qualifier.
