Jambi Customs and Excise thwarted the circulation of more than 700 thousand illegal cigarettes sent through expedition service companies in the local area over the past week."The Jambi Customs and Excise has succeeded in taking significant action against the circulation of illegal cigarettes in the past week," said Jambi Customs Counseling and Information Service Head Benny in Jambi, Antara, Tuesday, February 27.On February 23, 2024, Jambi Customs and Excise took action against the circulation of illegal cigarettes at an expedition service company in Jambi City.During the operation, officers received more than 400 thousand cigarettes of machine kretek cigarettes and white cigarettes of various brands of machinery that were not equipped with excise stamps according to the provisions.The day before, Customs and Excise also cracked down on the circulation of 300 thousand illegal cigarettes from various brands from other expedition companies.In addition to monitoring the circulation of illegal cigarettes, on February 19, 2024, Jambi Customs and Excise took action against illegal alcoholic beverages (MMEA).A total of 18.3 liters of illegal liquor consists of various brands distributed through an expedition company in Jambi City.From the results of an initial investigation conducted by Jambi Customs and Excise, it was indicated that the illegal liquor used fake excise stamps."This finding is clear evidence of efforts to counterfeit excise stamps to hide the authenticity of actually illegal drinks," he said.
