Cheap Foods Invaded By Residents, DKI Provincial Government Claims To Have An Effect On Lowering Prices Ahead Of Ramadan

Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service (DKPKP) Suharini Eliawati said the enthusiasm of residents for the cheap basic food activities distributed by the DKI Provincial Government was quite high.

Eli said, around 65 thousand packages of cheap basic necessities were sold out every time basic necessities were held in stages in Jakarta.

"Animo, a resident of Jakarta, was very high when he held cheap basic necessities in all sub-districts in stages," Eli said in his statement, Tuesday, February 27.

Thus, Eli claims that food availability ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr will be stable and soaring prices can return to normal.

"In every cheap basic food activity, residents are greeted enthusiastically. This means that the needs of residents are met. So, food prices will be stable in the market," he said.

Since January 15, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has implemented a low-cost basic food program as an effort to control inflation and make it easier to meet the needs of residents.

The cheap basic food program can be purchased by people in the nearest urban village at a price of Rp. 100,000 from the market price of Rp. 135,000 with a content of five kilograms of rice, one liter of cooking oil, one kilogram of sugar, and two kilograms of wheat flour.

Cheap food subsidized by the DKI Provincial Government can be redeemed by the owner of the Worker Card, Smart Jakarta Card (KJP) Plus, Jakarta Elderly Card (KLJ), Jakarta Disability Card (KPDJ), Honorary Teacher, PKK Cadre, Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling Officer (PPSU), flats, and Jakarta Children Cardholders (KAJ).

In addition to cheap basic necessities, the DKI Provincial Government and the central government have also distributed 10 kilograms of rice aid per Head of Family (KK) in Jabodetabek and aim to stabilize the soaring price of premium rice.
