The Commotion Of Gorontalo Residents Watch Cap Go Meh

GORONTALO - Hundreds of residents packed the Cap Go Meh celebration which was held at the Tridharma Place of Worship (TITD) Tulus Harapan Kita in Gorontalo City, Gorontalo Province, Saturday, February 24.

One resident of Ramdan Kadir admitted that he had been waiting to witness the Cap Go Meh celebration since the afternoon, even though heavy rains flushed the area.

"I came with my son, who wanted to witness the celebration of this Chinese citizen," said Ramdan as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 25.

He said the stretchers, bamboo music, lion dances and tanchi were the main attractions for this year's celebrations.

Another resident of Gorontalo City, Nani, said that he said the typical Cap Go Meh performance was rarely witnessed by him, so this year he came with friends and family.

"It's really fun, there are lion dances and tigers, besides that there are tanchi and stretcher processions that carry statues of gods," he said.

The Cap Go Meh celebration by Tridharma people in Gorontalo City begins with the band's marching accompaniment, ornamental vehicles, a lion dance performance followed by a stretcher carrying statues of gods by walking around a number of main roads in Gorontalo City.
