Regarding Hybrid Car Incentives, Honda: This Policy Is Necessary Because It Has A Large Contribution To Reduce Emissions
JAKARTA - The growth of environmentally friendly vehicles is growing very rapidly, while cars with hybrid systems have the best contribution in this segment. Of the 1,005,802 units of four-wheeled vehicles sold in Indonesia in 2023, 54,656 of them are hybrid.
Meanwhile, current incentives only apply to electric cars that only contribute to sales of 17,147 units. It is known, the system presented to hybrid cars is to combine the performance of gasoline engines and electric motors so that they have high fuel efficiency. However, is it necessary for hybrid cars to receive incentives like EVs in Indonesia?
Yusak Billy, as Sales & Marketing and Aftersales Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), said that this policy needs to be done because hybrid vehicles can contribute to reducing emissions levels issued in cars.
"I think hybrid incentives are necessary because this is environmentally friendly technology that can reduce half of emissions when compared to ICE," said Billy when interviewed at the IIMS 2024 exhibition, Kemayoran, Friday, February 23.

He also said that the hybrid system in Honda cars has almost the same performance as other EV cars when traveling below a speed of 50 km/hour, which is the average speed of vehicles on the streets of Jakarta.
Hybrid is a combination of gasoline and electric motors, if in Honda it is below 50 km/hour it uses batteries and electric motors. If it is used in Jakarta, most of it is at speed, it means driving the power that works," added Billy.
In Indonesia, the manufacturer with the 'H' logo presents two hybrid product models, namely All New CR-V RS e: HEV and All New Accord RS e: HEV. Both of these models marked their debut in the country in 2023.
Earlier this year, wholesale sales of All New Accord products RS e: HEV received sales figures of up to 31 units in the premium sedan segment. Meanwhile, All New CR-V RS e: HEV reached up to 339 units, according to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo).
