PLN Collaborates With Five Partners To Build SPKLU For Electric Vehicles

PT PLN (Persero) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with five partners in the development and provision of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) and Home Charging Services (HCS).

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained, PLN is fully committed to supporting shifting lifestyles in driving from fuel-based to electric vehicles (EVs) that are more environmentally friendly. One of them is by preparing EV infrastructure to encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles.

PLN is committed to building the strengthening of the EV ecosystem to thrive in the country. This is clear evidence that the transition from fuel-based vehicles to environmentally friendly electric vehicles, we make it easier and this is an effort to increase customer experience which is a commitment from PLN," said Darmawan.

However, said Darmawan, PLN cannot walk alone in accelerating the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem infrastructure in the country. For this reason, PLN opens collaborations with various stakeholders to increase the electricity charging infrastructure so that it is more massive and widely available.

We are very grateful that today we succeeded in signing the MoU and PKS with five private partners in the provision of SPKLU in Indonesia. This shows that our synergy is getting stronger in intensifying SPKLU in strengthening the EV ecosystem so that people become confident in switching because vehicle charging stations are everywhere," continued Darmawan.

Darmawan explained that the five collaborations that were successfully carried out at IIMS 2024 included, among others, the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with PT Vinfast Automobile Indonesia. This collaboration includes the development of infrastructure for Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) and home charging services (HCS).

Second, PLN signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with four partners, namely PT Arista Elektrica Nusantara, PT High Volt Technology, PT Exelly Electric Indonesia, PT Utomo Chargeplus Indonesia. This collaboration also includes the provision of SPKLU where PLN provides electricity supply and platforms.

"So later our image will be in public outlets such as malls and offices where SPKLU can be used by all brands that will make it easier for EV users in the country," said Darmawan.

Darmawan continued, PLN does not only provide physical infrastructure such as SPKLU, SPBKLU and home charging in supporting EV growth. Through successful digital transformation, PLN has provided EV Digital Service (EVDS) services in the PLN Mobile application end to end.

"Through the SuperApps of PLN Mobile available on the Playstore and App Store, PLN holistically connects the needs of EV vehicle users in the hands of personal devices," said Darmawan.

Through PLN Mobile, the public can also immediately get information on charging stations, charging transactions, monitor power consumption, submit home charging services and even test drive features that bring together distributors and people who want to try out electric vehicles.

To note, until now PLN has succeeded in supplying reliable electricity for 1,124 SPKLUs and 1,839 SPBKLUs spread across 427 locations belonging to PLN and partners and the private sector. This number will continue to be increased so that people are more confident to switch to electric vehicles.
