Luhut Calls Central Prepares Euro 4 And 5 Emission Standard Fuel, Pertamina Opens Voice
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said PT Pertamina (Persero) is preparing Euro 5 fuel and the transition to Euro 4 fuel is considered cleaner than the fuel currently used.
Responding to Luhut's statement, VP of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero) Fadjar Djoko Santoso said that actually Pertamina already has products equivalent to Euro 4, namely Pertamax Turbo and Pertamina Dex.
"What is currently underway is the RDMP refinery, including at the Balikpapan Refinery which is currently in transition period in the context of integrating existing refineries to new refineries," he told VOI, Friday, February 23.
Fadjar said, when the Balikpapan Refinery is fully operational, it can produce fuel with a standard Euro 5.
He added that currently the progress of the Balikpapan Refinery RDMP construction has reached 87 percent with a target that in April it can start to increase production.
"87 percent, the April target can increase capacity, from 260 thousand barrels per day to 360 thousand barrels per day (an addition of 100 thousand barrels per day)," concluded Fadjar.

Just so you know, previously Luhut said that based on the results of the study conducted by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, the cause of the highest Jakarta air pollution came from the transportation sector. Euro 4 and 5 are considered to have lower sulfur content so that the resulting emissions are cleaner.
Luhut said, with the transition to Euro 4 and 5, Indonesia could save crocodile fuel subsidies of up to IDR 50 trillion.
"In fact, yesterday I got it, and this is being calculated again, yes, it will reduce it to IDR 20-50 trillion from there. The government is trying to see where the equity is," explained Luhut.
