Prices Of Basic Materials Rise, Gibran Opens The Option To Hold Cheap Markets

SOLO - Surakarta City Government opens the possibility of implementing cheap markets for a number of basic commodities that have experienced price increases since some time ago.

Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka admitted that there were a number of basic commodities that experienced price increases, one of which was chili commodities.

"We have reviewed it from yesterday, indeed there have been those who have gone up, later we will follow up," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 22.

However, he has not confirmed the efforts to be made, whether to hold a cheap market or market operation.

Related to this, the Head of the Surakarta City Trade Office, Heru Sunardi, admitted that the price of chili began to creep up, including curly chilies and large red chilies.

Gibran said the price increase was caused by the planting season which coincided with the elnino season.

"This is added to high rainfall, of course it affects the success of the fruit. Currently, a lot of it is rotten," he said.

Meanwhile, based on a report received by the Surakarta City Trade Office on Thursday (22/2), the price of large red chilies at Legi Market reached Rp80,000/kg and red cayenne pepper at a price of Rp70,000/kg.

Meanwhile, at Pasar Gede, there are large red chilies, curly red chilies, and cayenne pepper at a price of Rp. 80,000/kg. According to him, the normal price of chili commodities is in the range of Rp. 30,000-35,000/kg.

Despite the price increase, he admitted, so far the supply of chili is still safe.
