PAPUA - The Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) has officially closed access to the entry of livestock and processed pork products as an effort to prevent the spread of the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus or African swine fever.Assistant Assistant for the economy and welfare of the Papuan People, Suzana Wanggai, said that his party has now officially closed access to livestock entry and processed pork products from outside.This “ Policy was carried out to anticipate the spread of the ASF virus or known as African swine fever,” he said in Jayapura, Antara, Thursday, February 22.According to Suzana, the time for closing access will depend on the situation of the spread of the virus." “ Now the virus has entered Timika, Central Papua Province where as of Tuesday the deaths of pigs in Timika are 142,” he said.He explained that various efforts to prevent the Papua Provincial Government from conducting socialization through social media as well as to pig breeders and restaurants."We have also created and disinfected the governor's circular. We have prepared disinfectants because friends in districts/cities are in dire need,” he said.Suzana also asked related parties to carry out strict supervision at seaports and airports, besides that the Papua Provincial Government also appealed to the public not to panic because until now Papua Province is in a safe zone.
