Leaking Gas, Hang Tuah Pecenongan Cafe Burns
JAKARTA - The Hang Tuah cafe located on Jalan Pecenongan, RT 08/03, Kebon Kelapa Village, Gambir District, Central Jakarta, was hit by a fire, Thursday morning, February 22. The fire was reported to have occurred at around 07.40 WB. Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal said, his party deployed 11 fire engines with 44 personnel to the fire site to extinguish the fire. "Alhamdulillah, the flames were successfully controlled before spreading to other buildings. The fire was extinguished at 08.34 WIB," Asril told VOI, Thursday, February 22. Meanwhile, according to the witness with the initials R, a Hang Tuah restaurant employee, the fire started when he was cooking in the kitchen.

"The fire started with a gas leak that immediately emitted a large enough fire when he was cooking. So the cause was gas leakage," he said. Seeing that the fire had grown, R and other employees tried to extinguish the fire using a light fire extinguisher (APAR) but failed because the fire was too big. "The area burned was about 75 square meters. There were no casualties or injuries. The owner is estimated to have suffered a loss of Rp. 225 million due to the fire," he said.
