The Sulawesi KLHK Gakkum Team Arrested 2 Wildlife Trade Actors

The Operation Team of the Balai Gakkum KLHK Sulawesi Region arrested two perpetrators of the protected wildlife trade with the initials SJ (47) and FN (22) from South Sulawesi.

"Both of them were secured by a team of officers on Friday (16/2), then the case was developed for 3-4 days," said Head of the Sulawesi Region Gakkum KLHK, Aswin Bangun in Makassar as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 21.

The disclosure of the case began with public information regarding the existence of a protected animal trade in Makassar City.

From this information, the Balai Gakkum KLHK Sulawesi Region conducted an in-depth investigation and followed up by conducting operations, which were carried out in an integrated manner with related parties.

From the arrests of the two perpetrators, the Operation Team confiscated

evidence in the form of 56 protected birds, consisting of 6 species of dora perkici birds (Trichoglossus ornateus), 1 type of black-headed kasturi bird Lorius lory, and 1 type of gold tiong bird (Gracula religiosa).

In addition, 2 types of Unidentified birds (suspected to be crossbreeding between the types of Lorius lory and Trichoglossus hadeatodus) were alive, and 46 birds of perkici dora (Trichoglossus ornateus) were dead.

Furthermore, the two perpetrators were taken to the Balai Gakkum KLHK Office in the Sulawesi Region for further investigation.

The results of the examination by investigators from the Balai Gakkum KLHK Sulawesi Region, it is known that the bird came from the Ampana Region, Tojo Una Una Regency, Central Sulawesi which was sent using a Wuling car to SJ (47) on Jl Kubis, Wajo Baru Village, Bontoala District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

After buying and receiving animals from the Ampana Region, Tojo Una Una Regency, Central Sulawesi, SJ (47) also resold them through the Facebook social media platform.
