Jokowi To Kominfo: Prioritize Government Ad Spending For Press Companies
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked ministries, especially the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) to prioritize the government's advertising budget for press companies.
"I also ask the Minister of Communication and Information to prioritize government advertising spending for press companies. I have repeatedly conveyed this," said the President in his remarks at the 2024 National Press Day Commemoration Peak in the Ancol area, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 20, which was confiscated by Antara.
President Jokowi acknowledged that this solution did not solve the overall problem of the press in dealing with this digital transformation.
However, according to the Head of State, the allocation of government advertising spending could be a "short-term" for press companies facing difficult times amid competition on digital platforms.
At the Peak of the 2024 HPN Commemoration, President Jokowi has also signed a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) "Publisher Rights" as a form of government support for quality journalism products.
The President also emphasized that content creators do not need to worry that the Presidential Decree can hinder cooperation with digital platforms.
"I convey that this Presidential Regulation does not apply to content creators. Please continue the cooperation that has been running with digital platforms. Please continue because there are no problems," said the President.
