Amid The Reshuffle Issue, Sri Mulyani Will Go To Brazil

JAKARTA - In the midst of the issue of a cabinet reshuffle or reshuffle by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) after the 2024 General Election, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that she would attend the G20 meeting in Brazil to see the real global economic conditions.

"Yes, it will be the end of the G20 (month)," said Sri Mulyani when met after attending the 2024 OJK Financial Services Industry Annual Meeting, Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Sri Mulyani said that her presence at the G20 in Brazil was related to the global economy, including discussing the issue of a recession that occurred to developed countries such as Japan and the UK.

"So, we will see next week I will attend the G20 in Brazil. There will definitely be updates regarding global economic conditions," he said.

Sri added that developed countries such as Japan and the UK experiencing a recession were already weak enough due to geopolitical problems and high interest rates.

"The countries mentioned earlier that have experienced a recession, yes, they are indeed quite weak, either because of the war in Ukraine which affects mainly Europe but also Japan and Europe in general will also be affected by economic policies, especially rising interest rates," he concluded.

For information, the 2024 Brazilian G20 Presidency has started since December 1, 2023. This event consists of fifteen working groups and involves twelve community groups outside the Government (engagement group) on the Sherpa route to the summit on November 18-19, 2024.

Meanwhile, the three main priorities of the Presidency are the establishment of a global alliance to fight hunger and poverty, global mobilization to tackle climate change and world governance.
