Make Sure The Criminal For Burning 2 Polling Stations In Bima, NTB Police Check Witnesses

The police confirmed that they would process the criminal acts of vandalizing and burning ballot boxes resulting from the 2024 General Election at polling stations (TPS) in Parado Rato and Parado Wane villages, Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Pol Rio Indra Lesmana, said the case is currently still at the stage of examining witnesses. The examination was carried out by the Bima Police Satreskrim Team at the Parado Police Office.

"For the time being, the witnesses examined came from PPS (voting committee) officers," he said in Mataram, NTB, Tuesday, February 20, which was confiscated by Antara.

Thus, Rio emphasized that the handling of this case has not revealed the role of the suspect.

"Indeed, there are those who are suspected of having existed, but no one has been arrested. The investigation process is still ongoing. So, there are no suspects yet," he said.

From the police report, he continued, the destruction and burning of the ballot boxes resulting from the 2024 election was suspected to have occurred due to one of the legislative candidates (caleg) not being satisfied with the results of the vote at a number of polling stations.

"So, the alleged arson occurred because there was dissatisfaction between the legislative candidates, it had nothing to do with the presidential election," he said.
