KKB Shoots Wings Air Plane Causes Flight To Dekai Papua To Temporarily Stop

PAPUA - Sentani Airport Manager said there were no scheduled Jayapura-Dekai flights, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains to this day, Monday 19 February.

He said Sentani-Dekai flights are usually served by two airline companies, namely from Trigana Airlines and Wings Air.

Separately, Deputy Area Manager Trigana Jayapura Irwan Rochendi admitted that his plane temporarily did not serve flights to Dekai following the shooting case of Wings Air on Saturday, February 17.

It is not certain when flight services to the area will be carried out again because they are still waiting for a decision from Jakarta.

"Security forces in Dekai have indeed provided security guarantees but we are still waiting for Jakarta's decision," he said.

Sentani-Dekai flights are served on Boeing 737-500 aircraft and the passengers brought around 90-120 passengers.

"Hopefully the Sentani-Dekai flight service can operate immediately," said Irwan.

The Wings Air plane was shot by a member of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) when it was about to land at Nop

The incident resulted in one passenger being injured as a result of being hit by pieces of objects shot by the KKB.
