130 Indonesian Citizens Illegally Entered Detained By Malaysian Immigration

A total of 130 Indonesian citizens (WNI) who entered without complete permits were detained by Malaysian Immigration in a raid on illegal settlements in Setia Alam, Shah Alam, on Sunday (18/2) morning.

In a statement, the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) stated that the Selangor State JIM had detained 132 foreign migrants without permission (PATI), including 41 women, nine children in a raid on illegal settlements in Setia Alam Sunday morning.

JIM carried out operations for about two hours starting at 02.38 in the morning local time. And in the operation as many as 156 foreigners were examined, 132 of whom were detained, 130 were Indonesian citizens, while the other two were from Bangladesh.

Reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 19, the Immigration Enforcement operation which was carried out together with various agencies led by Deputy Director General of Immigration (Operation) Tuan Jafri bin Embok Taha, involved 220 members of various divisions in Malaysian Immigration in several states, the City Council Shah Alam, the General Operations Team (PGA), the Department of National Registration and the Malaysian Civil Defense Force.

JIM believes Indonesian citizens and other foreigners live in the settlement to avoid detection by the authorities. During the raid, several people tried to escape but failed.

A number of violations identified were the absence of identification documents, exceeding the period of stay, and other violations that violated the Immigration Act 1959/63, the 1966 Passport Law, and the 1963 Immigration Regulation.

JIM, according to the statement, placed all detainees in the Semenyih Immigration Depot for follow-up.
