The Public Is Asked To Continue To Guard The Potential For Fraud In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA The community is expected to continue to play an active role in overseeing the potential for fraud in the ongoing 2024 election vote counting process.

According to Professor of Constitutional Law from Solo State University, Sunny Ummul Firdaus, critical communities must be given space to start the vote counting process until official results are issued by the KPU.

"If later the community or supporters find things that violate the provisions of their laws and regulations, they are welcome to convey that to Bawaslu," he said, Sunday, February 18.

He emphasized that the public only needs to report to Bawaslu to process indications of fraud and do not need to resolve or take action on their own.

"If anything is not in accordance with the law, if it is unconstitutional, and according to the supporters it is detrimental, there is a Bawaslu channel to be asked to complete it so that elections can run directly, in general, free, secret, honest, and fair," he added.

Sunny added that reporting allegations of fraud must be based on valid data and evidence. Because, it cannot be denied that every time a democratic party is held, there will always be the potential for fraud whether intentionally or not.

In addition, in every election, there must be parties who win and lose. Therefore, people are expected to maintain a conducive atmosphere, including those who feel they have won the 2024 election.

"It's better if the winners also keep their feelings from the ones who don't win. There's no need to be euphoric too much. As the Javanese who are less relieved, the winner is not happy," he said.

Sunny stated, through a good 2024 election process without cheating, the elected Indonesian leader can always side with the people. As a leader chosen by the people, it is hoped that the leader can protect all the people, not just his supporters.

"This leader now belongs to all Indonesian people, it doesn't belong to those who choose him. It is hoped that it can protect all Indonesian people who yesterday may not choose or yesterday who became opponents in the contest," he said.
