South Kalimantan Quarantine Center Checks Thousands Of Kilograms Of Fish Destinations For South Sulawesi

BANJARMASIN - The Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Center of South Kalimantan Province (Kalsel) examined thousands of kilograms of three types of fresh fish to be sent to Makassar, Bone, and Maros cities in South Sulawesi.

The head of the Sudirman South Kalimantan Quarantine in Banjarmasin, Sunday, said the types of fish included 240 kilograms of fresh Macan Cages, 2,510 kilograms of Dried Terine Fish, and 5,990 kilograms of fresh Bandeng Fish.

"Officers have certified before the fish departs through the Batulicin Laut Port of Tanah Bumbu to South Sulawesi," he said.

Sudirman said officers carried out various quarantine measures ranging from checking documents along with the suitability of types and the number of commodities, to physical examination of all fish in detail.

"Health checks on fish's physicalities were carried out by officers in an organic manner," he said.

Organolastic commodity health checks, he said, to ensure that there are no symptoms of quarantine fish disease pests (HPIK) so that they are safe and fit for consumption in the destination area.

Sudirman revealed that after all quarantine measures were carried out, the thousands of fresh fish had been equipped with documents, declared healthy, and met all requirements.

Then, the Quarantine issues a Fish Health Certificate and Domestic Fisheries Product (KI-D2) as the main requirement so that fish can be trafficked as well as quality and food safety guarantees.

"This quarantine action is part of the supervision and inspection so that fish commodities are feasible, healthy, and acceptable in the destination area of delivery," he said again.
