GBK Becomes The First Sports Complex In Indonesia To Use PLN Green Energy
PLN officially presents green energy in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta. This is marked by the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) agreement between PLN UID Jakarta Raya and the Bung Karno Gelora Complex Management Center (PPK GBK) as much as 100% use of electrical energy.
The connected power for the GBK area is 5.54 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) which includes several venues, namely GBK Main Stadium, Indoor Tennis, Centercourt, Swimming Stadium, Istora, and regional infrastructure. GBK became the first sports venue to use the PLN REC service.
The PLN REC Agreement was signed by the Manager of the PLN Implementation Unit and Pelanggan Service (UP3) Bulungan, Listyanto and the Representative Director of Business Development and Development of PPKGBK, witnessed by PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, and PPKGBK President Director Rakhmadi Afif Kusumo, and General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Lasiran at the opening of the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024, on February 15, 2024.
General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Lasiran said that PLN was grateful to GBK for participating and committed to using clean energy. GBK Stadium became the first sports building in Indonesia to use 100% clean energy.
"The purchase of REC is the easiest way for customers to enjoy clean energy from PLN. If building PLTS itself will require large investment costs for a long time, but by buying PLN's REC, GBK has officially become one of PLN's customers who uses clean energy," explained Lasiran.

Rakhmadi after signing the REC agreement with PLN revealed that GBK wanted to be even cleaner, from upstream to downstream for its electricity source.
"GBK today has collaborated with PLN and ensured that with the purchase of this REC, the electricity source comes from renewable energy. This is in line with the vision and mission of PPK GBK, to become an environmentally friendly area and support government programs in reducing emissions," explained Rakhmadi.
Based on PLN's calculations, the total new and renewable energy supplied from PLN to GBK in a year reaches 8.1 million kilo Watt hour (kWh) or equivalent to electricity supply for 3,700 households.
Lasiran added that GBK can be an example of other sports venues in Indonesia to use REC from PLN as a commitment to use green energy.
"The presence of this REC is a form of PLN's commitment to providing green energy for all PLN customers. With REC, customers have proof of ownership of international standard certificates for the use of electrical energy generated from renewable energy plants," concluded Lasiran.
