Floods Hit A Number Of Areas, PLN Moves Fast Amid Election Process

JAKARTA - Heavy rains that have flushed Jakarta and its surroundings since last night have caused flooding in several areas in West Jakarta. For the safety of customers to avoid danger, PLN was forced to cut off temporary electricity because water was a good electrical conductor. A number of electoral polling stations (TPS) that were flooded were also affected. After the puddle receded and declared safe for electricity, PLN officers moved quickly to carry out normalization again.

PLN officers are on standby at the Command Post and patrolling the TPS to ensure that electricity to customers can be distributed optimally. At 14.00 WIB there were 2 distribution substations that had to turn off their electricity because the surrounding areas were flooded and conditions were not safe for electricity to flow. The affected areas are Joglo, Pesing Koneng, and its surroundings.

Lasiran, General Manager of PLN Jakarta Distribution Main Unit, asked the public to immediately turn off electricity from kWh meter when the electricity has entered the house. PLN will turn off electricity from distribution substation sources and low voltage networks.

"The condition of the PLN distribution substation is already high and not inundated, but because the community is flooded, for safety it must be extinguished so that there is no danger of electrocution," said Lasiran.

Furthermore, Lasiran said that in the framework of the 2024 General Election, PLN UID Jakarta Raya alerted 2,418 personnel spread across 17 posts. Customers can contact PLN through PLN Mobile or Contact Center 123 for complaints of disturbances, asking for electricity to be turned off during floods, or get other electrical information.

"Under any circumstances, we are ready to secure election electricity and ensure the safety of the community, especially this rainy season. We also ask for cooperation from the community," said Lasiran.
