80 Thousand PLN Personnel Standby To Secure Electricity For The 2024 Election

PT PLN (Persero) deployed 80 thousand personnel and 1,853 election standby posts spread throughout Indonesia, to oversee the smooth running of the upcoming General Election (Pemilu).

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN personnel would continue to be on standby optimally in facing the implementation of the 2024 democratic party.

"We have set a standby period from 11-20 February 2024, for this reason all personnel are on standby at the election standby posts to securely maintain the running of this election, and ensure that electricity conditions are in prime condition and ready," Darmawan said in a written statement, Wednesday, February 14.

Darmawan conveyed that PLN's preparedness was reflected, one of which was through the PLN Main Unit of the Papua and West Papua Region as well as the PLN Main Distribution Unit of North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi and Gorontalo (UID North Sulawesi).

In the 2024 election electricity alert event which was held nationally on Monday, February 12, the General Manager of PLN for the Main Unit of the Papua Region and West Papua, Budiono stated that all conditions for electricity security equipment were ensured to be safe and prime.

"We have alerted 1,244 personnel consisting of 419 employees and 825 power transfers spread across. A total of 3 work teams in Voluntary Conditions (PDKB) are prepared as an effort to secure and anticipate electrical disturbances that cannot be avoided," said Budiono.

Shifting to North Sulawesi, General Manager of PLN North Sulawesi Distribution Main Unit, Ari Dartomo also told Darmawan that preparations for the UID Suluttenggo area had reached 100 percent.

"We formed 50 Election alert posts and deployed 2,192 personnel, with 38 special experts on Work in Voltage Conditions (PDKB). We can ensure that the electricity system is in a safe condition on D Pemilu day February 14, 2024 with distribution asset assessment, main distribution material readiness, spare materials and equipment readiness for interference conditions," said Ari.

In addition, Ari explained that there are several important strategies as a commitment to maintaining electricity to support this election event to run well, namely strengthening the defense scheme of the generator Isolated system (Anti Blackout) for the reliability of system frequencies and priority of the auctioner that supply strategic locations for the implementation of elections.
