Ketum Muhammadiyah: Presidential Candidates Must Be Ethical Luhur And Ready To Lose
Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Haedar Nashir said that presidential candidates, vice presidential candidates and all their supporters must have noble ethics and be ready to lose in the 2024 presidential election.
Haedar said the candidates needed to contest democratically with grace and if they won, this must be achieved in a sporting manner.
"A clean, ethical and non-currency election must be the commitment of all parties who have a contest," Haedar said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 12.
According to Haedar, whoever will win and get the mandate of the people in the 2024 presidential election, should not be arrogant because all candidates must have a high state spirit.
Haedar said being a leader of the country is not a light thing because it has to take care of very many things. Moreover, Indonesia currently has a heavy burden, ranging from problems of corruption, state debt, social inequality, to draining natural resources.
Therefore, according to Haedar, leading Indonesia requires the highest quality of the elected elites who must have integrity, commitment, knowledge, and state vision that crosses borders.
