Through Indonesia's FOLU Net Sink, Minister Of Environment And Forestry Ensures Efforts To Reduce Emissions Can Run Systematically
JAKARTA - Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya said efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that had been stated in the Indonesia ’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 plan could continue systematically despite the change of ministers."I think the work system has been prepared. The work systematics are like the FOLU Net Sink, Forestry and other Land Use Net Sink 2030 system, there is already a decree, there is a work pattern, blue print is available," said Siti Nurbaya in a meeting with the media at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry office in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, February 12.FOLU Net Sink 20430 is a condition to be reached in which the conditions for absorption of GRK emissions for the forestry and land use will be the same as the emission rate produced or higher by 2030.Indonesia's commitment is to encourage the achievement of the GHG emission rate of -140 million tons equivalent to carbon dioxide. The plan was also carried out to achieve the national GRK emission reduction target of 31.89 percent with its own capabilities and 43.20 percent with international support as stated in the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) document submitted to the UNFCCC secretariat.Siti explained that apart from the forestry sector which already has a roadmap in the 2030 FOLU Net Sink, there is also a waste processing sector and waste that is targeted to reduce 40 megaton equivalents of CO2 (MtCO2e) with various steps that have been prepared."So I think for the forestry and garbage sector, the amount may be 60 percent plus two or three, 64 percent, it can be systematically maintained," he explained.
Steps to reduce emissions from the forestry sector and waste processing carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, said Siti, can be carried out by the bureaucracy that continues to move despite the change of ministers as a result of this year's election.
