Majalengka Regency Government Repairs River Embankment Using Bronjong To Minimize Flood Impact

MAJALENGKA - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Majalengka, West Java, carried out emergency handling by repairing river embankments that collapsed using bronjong wires to minimize the impact of flooding in Kertajati District."We are coordinating with the Cimanuk-Cisanggarung River Basin Center (BBWS) to repair the river embankment in an emergency so that it can close the broken one," said Acting (Pj) Regent Majalengka Dedi Supandi when confirmed in Majalengka, Antara, Monday, February 12.Dedi explained that the flood disaster that occurred this time had submerged a number of points in Kertajati District, especially in three villages, namely Pakubeureum, Kertawinangun and Palasah. This incident, he said, was caused by high rainfall since Sunday (11/2) night, which broke several embankments so that the water in the Cipelang River overflowed into the road area and submerged residential areas. He said it was estimated that around 1,300 houses in the three villages and 200 hectares of rice fields belonging to farmers were affected by the flood. This incident caused the traffic flow to the exit of the Kertajati toll road (had) to be completely paralyzed and could not be passed by vehicles. The water level reaches 80 cm,” he said.Furthermore, Dedi asked the Majalengka Regency BPBD to immediately set up emergency tents and public kitchens to help 3,500 flood victims. Then, he also instructed the relevant agencies to distribute basic necessities and other facilities needed by residents in the three villages."I ask the Agriculture Service to record in more detail the land affected by the flood. If within two to three days it has not subsided it can cause crop failure," he said.
Dedi hopes that this flood incident will end soon so that the activities of residents in the three villages can run normally again.
