Bawaslu Calls Intimidation A Source Of Insecurity In The 2024 Election
JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) said that intimidation by groups, groups and individuals became the concern of his party in the 2024 General Election, because it could cause social vulnerabilities and sources of confusion. This was revealed by the Chairman of Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja in his press statement at the Bawaslu Media Center in the Menteng area, Jakarta, Sunday 11 February. "Based on experience in previous elections, this has become a reference in the mitigation process in the current election. This intimidation could be carried out and be imposed on the election participants, or anything related to the election. This is what we will continue to monitor during the election implementation and in particular in the quiet period ahead of elections like now," said Bagja. He added, Bawaslu also asked the public and also election participants to report acts of intimidation from any party, including intimidation from state officials from both the TNI-Polri, regional governments and any official. "If there are indications of intimidation from any party to us, including from the state apparatus if there is partiality to one of the candidates or a particular presidential candidate. So far, our coordination with the Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu) between institutions is also very good and goes smoothly to continue the legal process for both administrative violations and criminal violations," he added.
