Lunar New Year Holidays, Passengers Up To 50 Percent

JAKARTA - The number ofPORT passengers increased significantly during the long Chinese New Year 2024 holiday. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) noted that the increase in the number of passengers has reached 50 percent to date.

KCIC's GM Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said the increase in the number of passengers began to be seen since Wednesday, February 7, 2024, whereminish served around 17,500 passengers.

"So, at this Chinese New Year moment there was indeed an increase of up to 50 percent," Eva told reporters at Halim Station, East Jakarta, Saturday, February 10.

Eva said the highest passenger occupancy occurred on Thursday, February 8, with a total of 20,000 passengers in one day. That figure increased by more than 50 percent compared to the same day last week.

"The maximum occupancy is 20,000 on Thursday. Compared to last Thursday, the number of passengers was around 12,000, because the holidays were around 20,000 passengers," he said.

Ordering tickets for today's departure until tomorrow, Sunday, February 11, is still continuing. Eva predicts that the figure could reach 15,000 tickets by the afternoon.

"We saw on Saturday-Sunday that those who left for Bandung, from Halim to Padalarang or Tegalluar, were still quite congested. The average could reach around 15,000 (tickets) until the afternoon, but ticket sales continued," he said.

Eva said that the return flow of passengers from Bandung to Jakarta is predicted to occur on Sunday, February 11 to Monday morning, February 12.

"Then, users who return to Jakarta if we look at the Padalarang or Tegalluar relation, there may be a density on Sunday or Monday morning," he added.
