BUIDLRS Lounge By 5th PINTU: Web3 Future Solutions And Innovations

JAKARTA - PT Pintu Kemana Saja with the platform PINTU, the buying and selling platform and investing crypto assets in Indonesia again held BUIDLRS Lounge by PINTU which had entered its fifth episode. At this BUIDLRS, PINTU collaborated with Polygon Labs, holding a discussion entitled, Scaling Ethereum with zkEVM and Solving Web3 Gaming. The discussion session was filled by two panelists, namely Head of Business Polygon Labs Korea SungMo Park and Mythic Protocol CEO Arief Widhiyasa.

Head of Community PINTU Jonathan Hartono revealed, BUIDLRS has grown to become one of the biggest events for the Web3 community in Indonesia. Community enthusiasm for crypto, blockchain, and Web3 continues to increase, as evidenced by the large number of participation in BUIDLRS to discuss various interesting topics in the Web3 world.

"The BUIDLRS event is designed as a platform for communities to connect with each other, share experiences, and collaborate in building big projects for Web3 in Indonesia. PINTU presents quality speakers to share analysis of the latest Web3 projects and predictions in the future," he explained, in a written statement, Wednesday, February 7.

One of the BUIDLRS panelists, SungMo Park, Head of Business Polygon Labs Korea shared his analysis of Scaling Ethereum with Polygon.

"We all know that Ethereum has revolutionized the crypto industry by opening up opportunities for developers to build a smart-contract-based business. But in practice, there are challenges in the use of Ethereum, namely in terms of speed, which is relatively slow and expensive costs for mass adoption. Polygon answers the problem by providing services with cheaper gas fees and better transaction speed," he explained.

SungMo added that Polygon has successfully supported the Ethereum ecosystem, where since January 2022, the number of decentralized apps (dApps) supported by Polygon has increased by eight times.

"Some of the use cases include payments, consumer service, asset tokenization, government, to loyalty & rewards. In the future, we will continue to expand our ecosystem and infrastructure through the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) which allows developers to create ZK-powered Layer2 applications or businesses that are tailored to their needs," he explained.

Arief Widhiyasa, CEO of Mythic Protocol in his discussion highlighted the evolution of the game industry with the presence of Web3.

"The first video game that was created was Tennis for Two in 1958 but was never scaled to the public because not everyone has an oscillope, which is an instrument to match digital circuits. To answer this problem, the first technology to create a gaming industry using a semiconductor that allows devices such as computers, arcades, consoles, which can be played at home. This technology is able to improve the value of the gaming industry from 0 to $40 billion in just 20 years, we categorize this cycle as the first cycle of the gaming industry, "explained Arief.

Arief added that the second cycle came because of the internet and smartphones. Smartphones facilitate game access, while the internet answers in terms of distribution. For the third cycle, his party sees that it will be driven by two technologies, namely artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain.

According to him, AI will answer problems related to inequality in terms of capability to create a game.

"In the past, to create a game, we had to learn about computer science in a few years, but with the support of AI it can create games in a short time. Then blockchain we believe we can answer about the trust' felt by game creators. The combination of AI and blockchain provides an opportunity for the Web3 gaming world because there will be a lot of content created with AI supported by trust provided by blockchain," said Arief.

The game industry is a sector with a very large market share. Citing a report published by Newzoo, until 2023 yesterday, the number of video game players worldwide has reached 3.38 billion, an increase of 6.3 percent compared to 2022. In addition, revenue was also able to generate 184 billion US dollars, growing 0.6 percent on an annual basis.

"In the future, we hope the gaming industry can revolutionize the perception and conception of Web3 gaming, so that everyone can find out about various crypto-based games," concluded Jonathan.
