Ganjar Surprised DKPP Chairman Of KPU Langgar Ethics: What Can We Proud Of This Democracy Process?

BEKASI - Presidential Candidate number three, Ganjar Pranowo was surprised by the decision of the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) which stated that the Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari violated the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP). He admitted that he had read about the results of the trial that was knocked today.

"Yes, I read earlier, we were a bit surprised too, we saw the DKPP decision which said that he (Chairman of the KPU) violated ethics," Ganjar told reporters in the Bekasi area, West Java, Monday, February 5.

Although he does not yet know what the punishment for the decision is, Ganjar hopes that the current condition can be a lesson. Thus, ethical violations will no longer occur in the future general elections (elections).

"Hopefully this will be a lesson for all of us. So in closing my statement last night, yes, democracy must be carried out properly," he said.

No one should straddle democracy. The process goes well and look, if the Constitutional Court is hit by ethical problems then what ethical KPU is then we are proud of the people of this democratic process," continued the former Governor of Central Java.

As previously reported, the DKPP decided that the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari violated the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP). The decision was the aftermath of Gibran Rakabuming Raka's registration as a candidate for vice president with Prabowo Subianto on October 25, 2023.

"Imposing the last strong warning sanction to Hasyim Asy'ari," said DKPP Chairman Heddy Lugito reading the verdict as broadcast on the DKPP YouTube on Monday, February 5.

There were four cases that were tried, namely 135-PKE/DPP/XII/2023 cases; 136-PKE/DKPP/XII/2023; 137-PKE/DKPP/XII/2023; and 141-PKE/DKPP/XII/2023. Apart from Hasyim, DKPP also sanctioned other KPU members.

They are Betty Epsilon Idroos, Mochamad Afifuddin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik, and August Mellaz. Just like Hasyim, these six people were also given harsh warning sanctions.

The commissioners were complained about accepting the registration of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice presidential candidate on October 25, 2023. The complainant considered this not in accordance with KPU Regulation Number 19 of 2023 concerning the Candidacy for Presidential Election Participants and Vice President.
