Decarbonization Called Can Create 11 Million Jobs By 2060
JAKARTA The Presidential Chief of Staff, (KSP) Moeldoko, emphasized the importance of all parties having awareness of the importance of low-carbon development or decarbonization in order to realize green economic growth and create 11 million new jobs by 2060.
"Decarbonization is an opportunity for Indonesia to build a sustainable green economy and create new jobs," said Moeldoko when receiving an audience with the Association of Indonesian Carbon Emission Experts or the _Association of Carbon Emission Expert Indonesia (ACEXI), at the Bina Graha building. Jakarta, Monday 5 February.
For information, the World Bank Indonesia's Low-Carbon Development Pathway report in 2022, stated that decarbonization could produce economic benefits of IDR 7,000 trillion for Indonesia by 2060, including increased revenue, creating new jobs, and reducing health costs.
The World Bank also stated that decarbonization in Indonesia could create 11 million new jobs by 2060.
Moeldoko admits that it is not easy to build public awareness of the importance of decarbonization because the coverage is very wide. For this reason, he continued, ACEXI as an organization that oversees carbon emissions experts is expected to be a strategic partner as well as a bridge for the government in educating the public, especially for economic actors to be directly involved in the decarbonization process in Indonesia.
"It is better if the efforts that will be made are outlined in a work plan that is grounded and can be implemented in the short term. Don't be like painting the sky," said Moeldoko.
On that occasion, Moeldoko also emphasized that Indonesia's development policies and orientations are based on a green economy.
This is evidenced by the existence of various policies related to damaged land restoration, prevention of deforestation, improvement of land mapping, to accelerating the development of the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle (KBLBB) ecosystem.
The President also mandates to maximize the potential of carbon credit in Indonesia. KSP is also moving about this, we are in the form of a Carbon Trading Implementation Acceleration Team," said Moeldoko.
