Ganjar Asks All State Apparatus To Attend PMI Issues
Presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, said the state must be present with all its apparatus to solve the problems faced by Indonesian migrant workers (PMI).
He explained that the devices were Indonesian ambassadors abroad, the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI), the Ministry of Manpower, to local governments, which he said should be able to take various steps to prevent problems from forming when PMI works in people's countries.
"One, starting from they leave, the legality must be done. Starting from them leaving, we must already know what their skills are. Starting from they leave, what is in the work contract, we have to make sure. There are institutions that must exercise control," he said in the fifth debate of the 2024 General Election, Jakarta, Sunday.

He gave an example of his experience in releasing several problematic workers in Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Cambodia, which indicated trafficking in persons.
Ganjar, who at that time served as governor of Central Java, called the foreign minister and ambassador to discuss solving the problem.
Finally, he emphasized the importance of using social media by related officials to make it easier for the public, especially PMI, to complain about problems quickly.
"Using many doors to report is part of the quickest way to handle cases, but preventing it is much better with once again, legality, skills, contracts, and empowering all apparatus," he said.
