Indonesia's Election Visits, Dozens Of Foreign Election Observers Will Visit TPS
JAKARTA - Member of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifuddin said dozens of foreign election monitors would visit polling stations (TPS) on voting day or February 14, 2024 through the Indonesia's Election Visit program.
"The KPU always holds what is usually called the Indonesia's Election Visit program. This is kind of a conference, there comes to its TPS, which we dedicate and do to invite foreign KPUs who usually also have contact with us. Then also ambassadors of friendly countries and international organizations," Afif said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 2.
Afif explained that the program will be implemented in Jakarta from 12 to 15 February 2024. Meanwhile, he said, foreign election monitoring will visit several polling stations in DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Banten, through the program.
"I want to convey several updates from developments that have confirmed the presence. Of the 31 KPU friendly countries, which have confirmed 8 countries. Then from the embassies of countries from 45 countries, 17 countries have confirmed it," Afif said explaining the details of foreign election monitoring that will participate.
Meanwhile, according to him, there is a campus from the United States that has confirmed the participation of the program.
"Then from overseas campuses there is one campus from America that has confirmed it. Then international institutions, of the six we have invited, three have confirmed it," he said.

In addition, Afif explained that there were 7 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that confirmed their presence as foreign election monitors.
"Then the NGO is international. If these institutions were non-election agencies, now NGOs are usually engaged in election issues, we have invited 14 of which have confirmed 7," he said.
His party also invited campuses in the Jakarta area and institutions that had signed a memorandum of understanding with the KPU to participate in the "Indonesia's Election Visit Program".
"In addition, we also invite ministries/agencies that we will invite for a conference (conference). So on the 13th we have a half-day conference. Then a briefing (direction) to everyone for preparations for the 14th coming to the TPS, and after that we will also hold a conference during the day. That's roughly a brief picture, leaked," Afif said.
