Police Hunt For Owners Of 2 Hectares Of Ladang Ganja In Empat Lawang, South Sumatra
The Empat Lawang Police, South Sumatra are still hunting for a suspect with the initials (BUD) who owns two hectares of marijuana fields in the area.
Empat Lawang Police Chief AKBP Dody Surya Putra said he was armed with important information provided by the community, making him manage to find a two-hectare marijuana field in his area.
He invited his team at the Drug Unit and the South Sumatra Police Narcotics Directorate to walk overnight to get to the location. Arriving at the location, his party saw a stretch of fields that were strongly suspected of being cannabis plants.
"We immediately carried out a raid on a hut in the middle of the field and a perpetrator of ASM (40 years) a resident of Batu Jungul Village, Muara Pinang District, Empat Lawang was arrested, while BUD was declared a DPO," he explained as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 2.
Empat Lawang Police Chief AKBP Dody admitted that he decided to directly lead his team to reveal on Tuesday, January 30.
After giving the briefing, together with Kasat Resnarkoba Iptu Kemas Junaidi and Kanit 1 Ipda Ardliyansah and members as well as support from the South Sumatra Police's Narcotics Directorate, his party had to walk for 9 hours to get to the location.
From the search carried out, the team found 2,000 cannabis plants ready for harvest with a height of 1.5 meters - 2.5 meters on an area of two hectares and - a package of methamphetamine along with a suction device (bong) in the hut.
After we extracted all of these plants, we then destroyed them by burning 1,970 marijuana sticks. As many as 30 marijuana stems we confiscated for inspection at the Forensic Laboratory to be used as evidence," he said.

The search was continued in a hut about 1 km from the cannabis plant. At the crime scene, the team again found 100 kg of dried marijuana ready to use.
"A total of 96 kg of dried marijuana was destroyed on the spot by burning and 4 kg confiscated for examination at the Forensic Laboratory and used as evidence for the investigation process," he said.
"While the suspect is charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and/or Article 111 paragraph (2) and/or Article 112 paragraph (1) of Law no. 35 of 2009, concerning narcotics, sentenced to death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a minimum of 6 (six) years and a maximum of 20 (twenty) years and a fine of at least Rp. 1,000,000,000.00 (one billion rupiah)," he said.
