Prevent Floods On Cakung-Cilincing Road, KBN Drains Mud To Block Flows To Belibis Reservoir
PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN) Cakung anticipates flooding in industrial areas on the edge of Jalan Raya Cakung-Cilincing by draining mud that blocks the flow of water into the Cakung Drain and Belibis Reservoir rivers.
General Manager (GM) of the Cakung Area Busines Unit (SBU), Pratikto Dermawan said, PT KBN has collaborated with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) to drain mud throughout 2023.
According to him, this was done to prevent flooding in the Cakung industrial area. "KBN Cakung has six pounds or a deposition pool in the area," he said in Jakarta, Friday, January 2, which was confiscated by Antara.
He said this area functions to accommodate temporary water before it is flowed back into rivers or rivers through existing waterways. "In addition, 15 units of internal pumps are also supported, and two external pumps are external," he said.
He added that the maintenance of waterways in the area is also routinely carried out every day and the draining of mud in the canal is carried out every six months.
He assessed that through various flood prevention efforts, it was observed that the puddle points inside the KBN Cakung area quickly receded and dried up.
"Meanwhile, the puddle in front of the entrance gate to the Cakung KBN area or Cakung-Cilincing Highway was observed to have started to recede compared to conditions on Wednesday (January 31) morning," he said.
He added that the high rainfall in the Jakarta area plus the condition of high tide (rob), resulted in the overflow of the Cakung Drain River so that the flow of water pumped from the KBN area to the Cakung Drain and Belibis Reservoir was hampered.
"The condition was exacerbated by the narrowing of the Sepat River which connects the KBN canal to the Cakung Drain River, by the density of illegal buildings standing around it," he said.
