PLN IP Greennesia Project Will Build EBT Generation With A Total Of 1.06 GW

PT PLN Indonesia Power (IP) will start pioneering the construction of the Greennesia Project this year by building a new renewable energy plant (EBT) with a total capacity of 1.06 Gigawatts.

PLN IP Director of Business and Commerce Development Bernadus Sudarmanta targets that by the end of 2024 his party can execute the generator with a capacity of 500 MW in 5 locations.

He detailed that of the 1.06 GWs, 1 GW came from Solar Power Plants (PLTS) while 60 MW came from wind turbines. For PLTS, three PLTS will be in the form of floating PLTS and the other two are land based, while the remaining 500 MW will be processed.

"So this is a gradual development of 1,000 which allows it to be accelerated and at least close to completion, we are grateful to be able to connect to the grid in 500 MW, then 500 MW for the process," said Bernadus, quoted on Friday, February 2.

Bernedu menyebut 3 PLTS tersang tersbut antara lain PLTS di Bendungan Jatigede, PLTS Gajah Mungkur dan PLTS Kedung Ombo.

Regarding the challenges faced in developing this project, Bernadus said that his party mostly faces problems with land supply, takes care of licensing and funding problems.

"Indeed, one of the things we are trying to solve is the dilemma between costs and local content demands. We are also asked to comply with the TKDN regulations, but on the one hand we have to meet the tariff target that has been set in the Presidential Regulation, this is quite challenging," he explained.

It is said that Bernadus, his party, often if PLN IP pursues low basic costs, his party must ask for relaxation of TKDN which can pose a challenge in itself.

In addition to the challenges above, Bernadus also said that other challenges that must be faced come from internal PLN which is still optimizing the system because it receives electricity from PLTS.

"So that challenge causes us to immediately get a red carpet when renewable energy utility will be built, so there must be a compromise on mutual agreement on how green or transition energy can be achieved but also the economic stability and sustainability can be maintained," concluded Bernadus.
