The End Of Modric's Long Career Luka At Real Madrid
JAKARTA - Veteran midfielder Luka Modric will end his career at Real Madrid. The club did not award Modric a new contract after the end of the cooperation agreement in June 2024.
Modric is close to 40 or 38 years to be precise so he will soon stay at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, at a really young age, Madrid has continued to make him the main pillar until this season.
You see, two midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchoaumeni are projected to replace Modric, even more often injured.
In the aftermath, coach Carlo Ancelotti again relied on the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder. Not only that, he and Toni Kroos are the most influential figures in the dressing room.
Not only seniority, but also engineering skills and leadership figures for the Croatian national team captain.
With his figure as a legend who is still playing in Madrid, Modric doesn't have to warm up before playing.
In the last two matches against Almoria and Las Palmas, Modric did not warm up at all. Meanwhile, other players have to do it.
"He's a legend. I don't need to ask him to warm up if he's not played," said Ancelotti.
"I will order Arda Guler to warm up (although not played). However, of course not for him (Modric)," he said.
Modric was recruited by Madrid from Tottenham in 2012. Within 36 hours of his arrival, he has brought Marid to win the Supercopa de Espana trophy.
Modric made a special debut because he immediately appeared at el clasico against Barcelona.
At that time he only played for six minutes replacing Mesut Ozil. However, Modric had difficulty in his first season.
Madrid's midfield line was already tight with Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira playing defensive midfielder and Ozil in the attacking midfielder position at the time.
