Inaugurating Yogyakarta Poltekkes Dormitory Flats, Basuki Hopes Healthcare Needs Increase
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono together with Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin inaugurated the Health Polytechnic Student Dormitory Flats (Poltekkes) of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) located in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday, January 31.
Minister Basuki said, with the increasing number of health facilities and infrastructure development programs, the need for health workers also increased.
"With more and closer health facilities to the community as well as modern medical equipment, health workers need to be well trained," Basuki said in a written statement, quoted Thursday, February 1.
Basuki said the Ministry of PUPR fully supports the Ministry of Health's efforts to improve health services through the construction of health centers and hospitals in big cities, such as Surabaya, Kupang and Makassar.
"The Ministry of PUPR continues to support the Ministry of Health through the provision of dormitories such as Poltekkes. Furthermore, we also plan to build in Medan and several other cities," he said.
On the same occasion, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin hopes that, with the increasing facilities and infrastructure for Poltekkes, more and more children from all over Indonesia will have the opportunity to study at Poltekkes. So, after returning, they can provide health services in their respective regions.

"Then, the Ministry of Health also wants to educate people abroad here who are at the same time acknowledging that our quality of education is good. And we also want to educate our health workers so that they can work abroad. Because the income is greater and the needs are more," he said.
The construction of the Yogyakarta Ministry of Health Poltekkes Student Dormitory Flats is carried out in a Multiyear Contract (MYC) by the Ministry of PUPR through the Java III Housing Provision Implementation Center (BP2P) of the Directorate General of Housing in 2022-2023.
The Yogyakarta Ministry of Health's Poltekkes Student Dormitory Flat consists of 4 floors and has a residential capacity of 340 people.
This flat has 86 type 24 residential units equipped with 86 furniture sets. Including Infrastructure, Facilities, and Utilities (PSU) in the form of pavement/paving blocks, garden lights and drainage.
