Labfor Team Searches For Explosion Triggers At Semen Padang Hospital

The joint Forensic Laboratory Team (Labfor) from the police is focused on finding the trigger for the explosion that occurred at Semen Padang Hospital, West Sumatra on Tuesday (30/1), causing the operation at the local hospital to be completely paralyzed.

"There was a trigger for the explosion, so we are currently focusing on finding and analyzing what caused or triggered the explosion," said Head of the Riau Police Labfor Division AKBP Erik Rezakola in Padang as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 31.

He said the team, which is a combination of the Riau Police Labfor, Police Headquarters, West Sumatra Police, and Padang Police Inafis, had worked hard from Wednesday morning until around 18.00 WIB.

According to him, throughout the processing, the team had collected technical data on how the central air conditioner works and connections which became the point of the explosion.

"We have collected the data, tonight we will consolidate it with the team. Tomorrow (Thursday) morning the investigation will resume, the objects are the first and seventh floors of the hospital," he explained.

In addition, Erik continued, his party had asked for information from four people from the hospital related to the care and operation of the central air conditioner.

"We continue to collect the necessary evidence and clues, the results will be submitted to investigators handling the case," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Padang City Police, Kombes Ferry Harahap, asked the public to be patient and give the team time to work.

"Until now the team continues to work hard, it should be noted that their activities are crimescience investigation (CSI) which requires caution, accuracy, and technical nature," he explained.

On the other hand, the investigation carried out by the Police was in the context of an investigation into the explosion that occurred at Semen Padang Hospital on Tuesday (30/1) afternoon.

The explosion caused heavy damage on the first and seventh floors, resulting in hospital operations being completely paralyzed as of Wednesday (31/1) night.

There were no casualties as a result of the incident, but all inpatients had to be transferred to a number of hospitals in Padang.
