Responding To Ganjar-Mahfud, TKN Advises Prabowo Not To Resign To Become Defense Minister
Deputy Chairperson of TKN Prabowo-Gibran, Ahmad Muzani emphasized that his party had advised presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto not to resign from his position as Minister of Defense (Menhan).
This was emphasized by Muzani in response to the issue of vice presidential candidate number 3, Mahfud MD who resigned from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. Even the presidential candidate, Ganjar Pranowo, also advised other candidates to resign from public office.
"We advise Pak Prabowo not to resign as Minister of Defense, and we ask Pak Prabowo to complete his duties until the end of his term as Minister of Defense," said Muzani at the TKN Media Center Prabowo Gibran on Jalan Sriwijaya I, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 31.
According to Muzani, during the 2024 presidential election campaign period, Prabowo continued to carry out his duties as Jokowi's government minister well. He ensured that the General Chairperson of Gerindra would complete his duties as Minister of Defense.
"And during his tenure as a presidential candidate, he also took time off, his leave and his duties were carried out. And it seems that Pak Prabowo will complete his duties until the end of the period," said Muzani.
Muzani said that TKN respects Mahfud's political right to resign as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs for being a vice presidential candidate. However, he believes that Mahfud's resignation will not interfere with the running of the Jokowi-Maruf government.

"Prof. Mahfud's issue will withdraw from the Indonesia Maju cabinet, we have heard from a few weeks ago. We received news that he resigned from his position as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, of course it is a complete personal right, we respect the decision, and then the government will continue as usual," explained the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party.
The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR also believes that there will be no abuse of authority like what the presidential and vice-presidential candidates are worried about.
"It will not happen, God willing, it will not happen," concluded Muzani.
