5 Disabilities Become Election Officers In Cianjur, Including Socialization

As many as five people with physical disabilities became officers of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) and the Supervisory of polling stations (PTPS) in the 2024 General Election.

Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Cianjur Muchamad Ridwan said the involvement of the five people with disabilities was a commitment of the KPU and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Cianjur.

"KPU Cianjur accommodates people with disabilities to have the same opportunity as other general citizens to contribute as committees in the 2024 General Election," he said in Cianjur Wednesday, January 31, which was confiscated by Antara.

Ridwan said that the involvement of the community was disabled in the 2024 election because the representation of disabilities was still low.

He also admitted that he would seek their involvement in other activities, including socialization to increase the aspirations of residents in the 2024 General Election on February 14.

"We will try to coordinate with the Cianjur Indonesian Disability Association (PPDI), to involve persons with disabilities in various activity programs at KPU Cianjur in the future," he said.

Chairman of PPDI Cianjur Tanti Trisani, said five people with physical disabilities were included as organizers at the TPS level by KPU and Bawaslu Cianjur in the February 14, 2024 elections.

"Bawaslu Cianjur involves three people with disabilities as PTPS, in Cianjur District as many as two people one person in Cibinong District, while KPU Cianjur involves two people as KPPS officers in Sukaluyu and Karangtengah sub-districts," he said.

He explained, compared to the number of KPPS revenues which reached tens of thousands, the acceptance of KPPS officers from people with disabilities was very small due to various obstacles including Human Resources (HR) which were still limited in terms of education.

"We hope that in the future there will be more people with disabilities in Cianjur who are involved in elections or other activities, so that they have the same rights as other general people," said Tanti.
