Police Arrest DPO In Forest Illegal Logging Case In Aceh

Police arrested JAS (42), the alleged perpetrator of illegal logging in the forest area. JAS has been on the wanted list (DPO) since September 2023.

"The JAS perpetrator was arrested by a joint team of the Operational Unit of the Sabang Police Criminal Investigation Unit and supported by the Jatanras Unit III Opsnal team of the Aceh Police Ditreskrimum at a house in Gampong Pasie, Lhoong District, Aceh Besar District," said Sabang Police Chief AKBP Erwan in Banda Aceh, Wednesday, January 31, confiscated by Antara.

Erwa said that JAS' arrest began with information on Sunday, January 28. The public reported the whereabouts of JAS in an empty house in Gampong Pasie.

"Based on the report, the joint team immediately investigated it. After confirming that the information was correct, the joint team arrested JAS without a fight," said Erwan.

The Sabang Police Chief said that JAS was named a suspect in illegal logging in forest areas since the issuance of a warrant for the start of the investigation on August 31, 2023.

The suspect JAS is suspected of violating Article 82 Paragraph (1) letters b and c of Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning the prevention and eradication of forest destruction.

"Now, the suspect JAS is being held at the Sabang Police Headquarters for further investigation. We appreciate the hard work of all parties involved in the arrest. And this confirms our commitment to continue to eradicate illegal practices that destroy forests," said Erwan.
