Growing 17.5 Percent, BRI Earns IDR 60.4 Trillion Profit In 2023

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BRI) earned a profit of IDR 60.4 trillion or grew by 17.5 percent on an annual basis in 2023.

"Despite experiencing a number of external challenges such as the era of high interest rates and inflation, geopolitical conditions that are full of uncertainty and several collapsed American banks, BRI can overcome all of them with an impressive note," said BRI President Director Sunarso at a press conference, Wednesday, January 31.

Sunarso said that BRI's profit was the right of shareholders. Through tax payments and dividends, the majority of the profit of IDR 60.4 trillion will finally return to the net as the majority shareholder.

Then in terms of assets, until the end of December 2023, BRI group managed to record assets of IDR 1,965 trillion or grew 5.3 percent year on year (yoy).

Furthermore, Sunarso said, the main support for BRI's impressive performance until the end of 2023 was credit distribution which grew double digits above the rice banking industry, maintained credit quality, adequate collection of third party funds (DPK) with a focus on low-cost funds or CASA and increasing efficiency.

Until the end of December 2023, BRI recorded credit growth of 11.2 percent yoy to Rp1,266.4 trillion.

"BRI's success in disbursing credit above the national banking industry is balanced with BRI's ability to maintain the quality of loans distributed, where non-performing loans (NPL) are controlled at the level of 2.95 percent," continued Sunarso.

In terms of DPK, until the end of December 2023 BRI managed to collect DPK of Rp1,358.3 trillion or grew 3.9 percent yoy. This number is better than the DPK of the national banking industry which grew 3.8 percent yoy at the end of December 2023.

The collection of BRI DPK is still dominated by CASA with a percentage of 64.4 percent or equivalent to Rp874.1 trillion.
