Dito Mahendra's Trial Continues Today, Prosecutors Will Respond To Exceptions On Illegal Guns

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta District Court will hold a follow-up trial in the alleged illegal possession of firearms with the defendant Mahendra Dito Sampurno alias Dito Mahendra, today.

Based on the Case Investigation Information System or SIPP of the South Jakarta District Court, the trial scheduled an answer or response from the public prosecutor (JPU) for the exception of the defendant's camp.

"The public prosecutor's response to the exception of the defendant's legal adviser," wrote SIPP, quoted by VOI, Monday, January 29.

The plan is that the trial of the defendant Dito Mahendra will be held in courtroom 4 at 11.00 WIB.

Dito's camp at his trial submitted an exception or objection note containing no malicious intent or even involvement of terrorism behind the possession of 9 illegal weapons.

Dito Mahendra's attorney, Boris Tampubolon, said that all of his client's weapons were only part of a hobby, namely collecting and shooting sports.

"The panel of judges, we also want to convey one of the most important principles in this trial that our client is a businessman who has worked well, who has for years and has a hobby of shooting sports. He has also been in Perbakin," Boris said in a trial at the South Jakarta District Court.

Then, Dito is also said to not use firearms or illegal guns carelessly. All used for exercise in official places.

In fact, based on the results of the police's statement at the investigation stage, the origin of the illegal weapons belonging to his client is said to be affiliated with acts or terrorist networks.

"The weapon was purely because of the defendant's hobby, and was used in its place, such as at the TNI shooting ground civil shooting range and also the Police shooting range," he said.

"These weapons are also not terrorist weapons, witnesses from the police also explained that they were not terrorist weapons," continued Boris.

Meanwhile, in this case Dito Mahendra was charged with possessing 9 illegal or unlicensed weapons. A total of 6 of them are senpi.

The six illegal guns are a Clock 17 gun, a S&W revolver, a 19 Zev Clock pistol, an AK 101 M4, and an Angstadt Arms pistol.

As for the air soft gun and air rifle which are also not equipped with a valid letter or document, namely, Airsoft Gun Heckler & Koch G36, Airsoft Gun Heckler & Koch MP5, and a Walther brand air rifle.

Thus, Dito Mahendra is suspected of violating Article 1 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 1951 concerning Changing the 'Ordonantie Tijdelijke Bijzondere Strafbepalingen' and Law of the Republic of Indonesia Formerly Nr 8 of 1948.
